First person survey for: Roslynn DeLaine
Name Given at Birth: Roslynn Delaine
Nicknames: Rosie, Ros
Hometown or where you were born: London
Current Residence: The Marylebone neighborhood of London, in the home I mostly grew up in, near Portman square. Though the neighborhood does have quite a few more people in it now than when I was a child. The poverty and crime that has stricken the city has not left our once fashionable district out.
Age: 24
Class: Middle
Are you dead or alive? Quite alive, thank you.
If dead, how did you die or how were you sired?
Short term goal: Shut down the ring of prostitution and murder to which I have been assigned through following established guidelines and rules of law.
Long term goal: Distinguish myself as a capable and valued member of the Yard.
What do you do, your main function in life/society? I’ve recently begun collecting evidence for Scotland Yard. Prior to my new assignment, I compiled research for investigators.
Have you ever taken a life? No--though I have been trained and am prepared to do so should the situation necessitate.
Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime? I have not, though some members of my family have thought they could because of my father’s position as commissioner. My brother Marcus got caught up in the wrong crowd. And my mother, Elizabeth, involved herself in gaming and betting with some friends along Piccadilly, and due to an error in identity, she is no longer with us.
Closest friends/How did you meet? Samuel will be a friend until I die. I hope more than friends, actually. We met through my father. Sam was a criminology student at Oxford, and that is how he met my father, Gordon. They developed a type of mentor/student relationship, and so I saw Samuel quite often. After everything that has happened in both of our lives, it seems only natural that we should spend a good deal of time together.
Percy is another good friend whom I met through Sam. Sam was engaged to Percy’s sister Emily, and the four of us used to spend merry evenings together. We all attended Oxford together.
Pets: None. Pets are not safe in this day and age.
Favorite food: Asparagus and eggs. Tapioca is my favorite sweet.
Favorite place to relax: I like to take walks around Portman Square.
Favorite Drink: English Ginger Beer, for it is made with brown sugar, and I do so love the taste of that! Coca-Cola is a nice novelty, though I have only tried it twice.
What's your bedtime? I usually retire at 8:00. What excepts this is if a friend hosts a dinner, than I of course attend that and go to bed straight away when I return home.
What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet? Leather boots
Are you married or single? Single for now.
Do you have a family / who are they: Really the only family I have left is Samuel and Percival.
Favorite Entertainment: I like to read and occasionally will go to the theatre at St. George’s Hall.
Most Humiliating Moment: This, sadly, involves Sam and the near crushing of my dreams. The first few times I met him, I thought surely father was bring him ‘round for my sake. We are the same age. I new Emily from some courses at school, but did not know her well at the time either. After I came on a little too strong for a woman of my position, and in mixed company, I discovered Emily and Sam had been a couple for some time. I felt very foolish. Thankfully Percy was there to help console me. He is such a wonderful friend. I do not know what I would do without him most of the time.
Proudest Moment: My promotion to inspector. I am the first female in such a position, and I have no doubt it is because of the things my father did within the organisation. He would have been very proud on that day.
What do you look for in the opposite sex? If you look at Samuel Remington, you will see all that I look for in a man.
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, who is your immediate "overlord"? That would be the lead inspector Robert William Worthington IV, my direct supervisor.
How do you feel about that person? His name, the whole of which he likes to be called, should say enough.
Favorite sport to watch: I’d much rather play at sport than watch. I like to row in a boat, bicycle, and play lawn tennis.
Do you remember your first kiss? Well, yes, if you can call it that. It was really more Percival falling into me than a kiss. It was all quite accidental really.
Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends? I do still talk to some of them, but more as acquaintances now. After my brother’s indiscretions, the only reason any of them talked to me is because of who my father was. They did not want to be my friends, but did not want to be on my bad side either. My school friends did not desert me, I see my beloved Samuel and Percy every day.
Do you have dirt/mud floors or stone? Softwood with parquet boarders and some large rugs.
What is your bed made of? I now have a half tester bed made of wood with a soft mattress that was my mothers, a gift from my father for their anniversary.
How many people sleep in your bed? Only myself. Nothing else would be proper.
