Charlotte AbbottFirst Person Survey for: Charlotte Abbott

Name Given at Birth: Charlotte Weaver

Nicknames: Charley

Hometown or where you were born:  I was born in the faire Shire of Canterbury

Current Residence: At this time I be living me life in the forest of Sherwood

Age:  21

Class: I be an outlaw, I fear.

What do you do, your main function in life/society: I spend me days worrying over the Merry men, I done made so many hangover cures. My goodness, you would not believe how much trouble them men get into. Why just the other day I was patching up ol' Sammy Briar when he done tripped over a boar when hunting, didn't even get the boar either. *sigh*

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: skinny dipping??? Nay, I would not venture forth in such away! To submerge me self in water, tis dangerous, one does not wish to be too clean.

Do you make fun of people: In secret, with some of the other women, sometimes there are comments thrown about, they be in jest and good natured. The men loyal to Robin Hood are all good men, they simply have their quirks.

Favorite Color: hmmmmm . . . let me think here, me favorite color . . . t'would be a light purple, the color of the moors early on a spring day, when the flowers have just begun to bloom.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: Aye, I fear that I have. Me husband and I treated the wounds of some outlaws, and hid such from the magistrate's guards. Me husband . . . he . . . dear Robin Hood was unable to get him out in time.

Closest friends/How did you meet: Ah now, that would be dear Fanny Little. I did meet her prior to me husband's death. One of her little sons, dear Tommy, had caught himself a bit of a fever, she did come to me for assistance. A bit o' bleeding was all the boy needed, and Fanny worked in me shop for several Months there after to pay me husband back for the service. Afterwards dear Fanny and I would spend many hours about collecting herbs and ingredients for our separate purposes.

One Pillow or two:  There was a time when had meself a pillow. Now I fear I have none.

Pets: On me first day in the camp of Robin and his men, I found meself very distraught, me husband was gone, me home, and I found meself, a good Christian woman . . . as an outlaw. I did find meself comforted by a beautiful red bird, who sat near me in a tree and continued to sing. Each day there after I have returned to that spot and seeing the bird have wished it good day and relaxed in it's company.

Favorite Type of Music: Every once in a while, there is a gathering of the people of Sherwood. We gather beneath the trees, around a fire. While drinking mead and enjoying the plenty of the forest, the men will sometimes pull out their crudely made flutes and drums and sing the songs of the common man. Tis wonderful tunes.

Hobbies/Pastimes: The weaving of garlands and vines into crowns for the young maidens on the eve of their weddings. 'Tis enjoyable work, knowing that one is helping a new life begin.

Personal Hygiene: I do wash me face and hands early each morn. No more is necessary.

Favorite Food: I must say that truly, it 'tis the meat of a sow, slow roasted on the eve of a harvest festival.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: I fear neither of me parents, dwell upon this earth. Both reside next to God almighty.

If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: Me mother died of child birth with me younger brother. Me father was working at the loom one day, in me fifteenth year, and simply collapsed never to rise again. Both seemed to pass quickly and painlessly.

Favorite place to relax: There be a tree, a bit far from camp, where one such as I may lean back, and listen to that same little bird as it sings praises to the almighty one.

Favorite Holy Day / Why: Me favorite Holy Day? I would have to say, t'would be the Day of Christ. 'Tis such a wonder watching Robin and his men hand the families bits of coin allowing them to provide their families with the a good meal that day to go with the gift exchange.

Favorite Drink: Mead, Little John's specifically. The man makes wondrous mead.

What's your bedtime: When my eyes can no longer make out the mortar and pestle before me, I know it is time to quit for the night.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: I have a very good pair of shoes, all that remains of me time as a good citizen of Canterbury

Are you married or single: Once I was married, and I did love me husband very much, even though the marriage was arranged by me father before he died. Now, I am not yet ready to venture forth into another marriage, and I have work I must be doing.

Do you have a family / who are they: I have meself an older brother who works as a weaver, continuing the work of me father. And me be having a younger brother, who did venture forth to join the clergy. I fear they do not speak with me.

Favorite Entertainment: Meself and the other ladies of Sherwood, enjoy sitting together while we do work and speak of the antics of the men folk.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Carding. Strange as it may sound. I very much enjoyed taking the coarse wool of sheep or goat, and transforming it into the smoothest possible substance ready for the spinning.

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Darning. I very much disliked the chore of Darning. Me brothers were quite rowdy as youngsters and I would find meself up late repairing the many tears the developed in their shirts and trousers.

Favorite Sport:

Most Humiliating Moment: T'was a brisk fall day, two years past. I stood in a crowd of people, two of Robin's men had accompanied me. I had recently joined them. I had simply come into town to purchase supplies. But I found meself before the gallows . . . and me husband was hanging there along with them men we had tried to save. I fear a broke down and nearly got the men with me as well as myself caught.

Proudest Moment: I twas 13 and had truly found myself in love with dear Jason Abbott. One afternoon, as me father was quoting from the good book and marshalling us on how to properly worship they lord we received a visitor. Oh I stared as Jason advanced to my father, before the whole family. My step-mother, the harsh woman that she was, watched with irritation as Jason requested from my father, the right to wed me. I shall never forget that wondrous moment.

Craziest Person or silliest you know: I must say I actually find the Lady Marian a bit silly. I mean really . . . challenging Robin to archery, announcing to her father that she shall only marry for love. At the same time though, she is a good woman, and though a bit silly, I envy her and Robin.

What do you look for in the opposite sex: Honesty and integrity. Selfishly of me, I also look for love. I fear though that I have had my opportunity for love and shall have to settle for something less.

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord" My immediate overlord would be Robin. It was he who took me in when we were caught trying to heal his men.

And how do you feel about that person: I respect the man. He has a keen mind and a true heart. I just wish he would learn to duck better when he and John are sparring, I've had to deal with more black eyes than I'd like to count.

Favorite Sport to watch: A bit of gossip never hurt anyone, and tis a good way to find out what is happening., Me most favorite sport to watch would be the joust. Watching the knights showing their best skills, 'tis quite exciting.

Do you remember your first kiss: Aye that I do. Now don't be telling anyone but well . . . Jason and I did not wait for the wedding to exchange our first kiss. After he had requested the right to marry me from my father, we went to speak to each other on the door step. I suppose it was not a sin, for neither of us planned such, and the kiss . . . well it was not exactly chaste. The feel of his lips, the touch of his hands. Oh, how I miss them.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: Has been a bit difficult here of late, but, aye I do. When ever I visit Canterbury for supplies I try to stop in and spend some time with the people I grew up with. These times are so relaxing.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: To refresh meself I sometimes seek out the moors. Watching life there, seeing how the Moor exists, regardless of what may transpire. It reminds me of the good lord's strength, and how he helps his people here on earth.

Have you ever been overseas: Nay I have not. Though I have done a bit of traveling with Robin's band.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone:  once they were wood, now they are dirt.

What is your bed made of: Me bed be made of some oak bows, fitted roughly together to support the pallet laid there-on.

How many people sleep in your bed:  I share me bed with many of the other un-attached ladies of Sherwood, but no more than7
