Rose McGawin

Name Given at Birth: Rose Cothilde

Nicknames: Little Rose

Hometown or where you were born: Canterbury

Current Residence: The Guildhall

Age: four and twenty, I believe

Class: Upper Middle Class.

What do you do, your main function in life/society: I am the good wife of the Guildmaster of Canterbury.

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: I enjoy the thought of swimming, and think I would be brave enough to try it, but fear that I have never had the occasion to attempt it.

Do you make fun of people: I never make fun. On occasion, my gentle words of help have been misunderstood, but I always speak with good intent.

Favorite Color: Red. It is always a surprise and cheers one.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: I have not and would not commit a crime. I have known ones who have, and call them my friend, but they are really gentle sorts, with no ill intent, or so I believe.

Closest friends/How did you meet: Over the course of my childhood and because of my husband’s daily tasks, I know and call many people my friend. I have rarely met anyone who wasn’t eventually my friend, but to name one in particular, The Lady Mayor and I have much cause to pass the time, our husbands being in somewhat similar positions. We have enjoyed many an afternoon with our heads together, discussing the foibles of our beloved husbands.

One Pillow or two: I enjoy many pillows, but when the sun is setting, I have two. On occasion I will awaken with four, as, I regret to say, I often sleeping will displace my dear husband from his.

Pets: While I do not have a pet of my own, my dear little son, Christopher, has a kitten that I am very fond of.

Hobbies/Pastimes: I enjoy looking around the shops of Canterbury with my husband. He is always helpful and knows where all of the prettiest things are.

Personal Hygiene: I pride myself on cleanliness. I always assure that my dear husband and son are as clean as I myself am. I am not, however, squeamish and occasionally have the unbecoming habit of squishing in the mud. It is not a very lady-like habit, but no one sees my feet and it is a small sin.

Favorite Food: The vendors at the harvest festival always have some tasty tidbit. I am not particular, but I favor sweets.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: n/a

If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: My mother died when my youngest brother was born, and I only remember her sweet face. I am fairly sure that my father is dead, having heard nothing of him since he left me and my brothers and sister alone to go hunting when I was about nine.

Favorite place to relax: I love to wander in the woods by myself.

Favorite Holy Day / Why: The Yule brings some of the loveliest days of the year.

Favorite Drink: Mead is a favorite of mine.

What's your bedtime: I sleep when the sun sets and awaken when it rises.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: So as not to embarrass my dear husband, I try very hard to stay in my slippers, but have never gotten used to having those delicate things on my feet.

Are you married or single: I am married to Nicholas McGawin, the Guildmaster of Canterbury

Do you have a family / who are they: Beside my husband and sweet son, I have one elder sister and four younger brothers who have all gone from Canterbury for one purpose or another. My sister is wed with young children, while my brothers have all taken to the woods and countryside. My husband does not enjoy when I discuss them.

Favorite Entertainment: I am secretly overjoyed that the Lady Mayor and her husband invited the Gypsies to our fair city. The revels they provide are very enjoyable.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Before my mother died, I remember watching her embroider on the chair in the corner of our cottage. She showed me very little before her death, but I do recall some small amount of the skill.

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: After my father left us, it fell to me to supply food for our family. While hunting was an enjoyable occupation, dressing the animals was something I am glad to allow to others.

Favorite Sport: I am still very fond of hunting.

Most Humiliating Moment: The day I first saw my husband. He was riding past, looking fine and handsome, while I fished in a stream with my brothers. I was so startled by his sudden arrival that I fell face first into the stream and had to be rescued, with much laughter, by my brothers. I am happy to say that he remembers it not at all. His memory of the first time we met is very different.

Proudest Moment: The day my husband took my hand in marriage. I never thought to have a husband so fine.

Craziest Person or silliest you know: My son, Christopher, while he behaves properly as a child of his station should, privately capers and tells stories such that would make anyone laugh.

What do you look for in the opposite sex: I have found all in my dear husband, simply look to him.

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord" My husband is my immediate overlord.

Favorite Sport to watch: I enjoy all of the sports that the gentlemen play.

Do you remember your first kiss: Of course! This is not a thing that is easily forgotten.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: My only childhood friends were my sweet sister and dashing brothers. I do not see them often, due to my sister’s distance and my brothers’ dubious occupations.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: I often go to the woods to relax and ease my mind.

Have you ever been overseas: I have not traveled far in my life.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: All of the floors at the Guildhall are made of wood.

What is your bed made of: Our bed is of feathers.

How many people sleep in your bed: My husband and I are the sole occupants.
