Demetrius

DemetriusName Given at Birth: Henry Demetrius Percy

Nicknames: Demetrius

Hometown or where you were born: I was born in the castle of my fathers Alnwick Castle.

Current Residence: Whitehall, London

Age: 21

Class:  Nobility

What do you do, your main function in life/society: I am the Warden General of the East and Middle Marches, which is the border keeper between England and Scotland. I also bear the title of Earl of Northumberland, which my charge is to settle land disputes and ensure a bountiful harvest for his majesty.

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: I do indeed have the ability to stay above the wake when I swim.

Do you make fun of people: When it may be appropriate, but mostly no for ‘tis not gentlemanly to do so openly in court.

Favorite Color: A certain light shade of blue, for it’s the color of my family crest.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: Clearly someone like myself would not ever think of committing a crime, I was not raised a gentleman so I could dishonor my family by committing a crime.

Closest friends/How did you meet:

One Pillow or two: An exact account of the number of pillows in my bedchamber is not necessary; know you that it is enough to keep a man of my means comfortable.

Pets: I have numerous pets, my favorite of which is my warhorse Owen.

Favorite Type of Music: I do enjoy the trumpets sounding in a Royal fanfare. I also have a taste for anything with bagpipes it reminds me of home.

Hobbies/Pastimes: I like to play bowls and cards, I’ve tried my hand at poetry but writing is not my best attribute.

Personal Hygiene: I bathe frequently enough

Favorite Food: I love the taste of roasted pheasant.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: My father died in the year of our lord 1527, my mother survives him at my family home in Alnwick, we do get along nicely but I seldom see her for I am at court.

If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: My father died of consumption.

Favorite place to relax: The easiest place for me to relax is in my inner bedchamber at my family home of Alnwick away from the never settling life of court.

Favorite Holy Day / Why:

Favorite Drink: A strong ale after a day’s ride

What's your bedtime: After all duties which has been  has been completed I can rest.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: A wonderful pair of leather boots

Are you married or single: I must keep most of this answer to myself for it may be considered treason to do otherwise, and I wish not to jeopardize the well being of the woman whose name I will not speak. I was once engaged in the unbreakable bond of marriage or so I thought, but my love was stolen from me by one of unsurpassed precedence. As of this day I am but a lonely courtier, although I know it to be true that I am soon to be betrothed.

Do you have a family / who are they: I have a brother, Thomas and my mother Catherine Spencer

Favorite Entertainment: The masque ball is always a welcome occasion, doubly so if one has a part to play.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: My favorite subject was fencing.

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Latin was my least favored subject at school.

Favorite Sport: The Joust of course, nothing is more prestigious than the clash of lance on shield.

Most Humiliating Moment:. Once again with my better judgment I must withhold information I was not unpublicly reprimanded by my master Cardinal Wolsey when I attempted to wed someone whom I loved, but my station was to important to the king and my father for my unwelcome betrothal. So I may be betrothed once again, to someone of my family’s favor.

Proudest Moment: Being knighted by his majesty into the Order of the Garter.

Craziest Person or silliest you know: I know not his name but I believe he is of the Howard family, if I knew not the truth ‘twould seem he was a fool and not a man of the King’s Body. I see him frequently attending his majesty. He tends to speak out of turn, especially recently when the topic is pertaining to myself.

What do you look for in the opposite sex: Someone who isn’t looking for my wealth or titles.

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, who is your immediate "overlord" His Majesty King Henry.

How do you feel about this person: He is the greatest monarch anyone could ask for, a sovereign and a sportsman as well.

Favorite Sport to watch: Although I myself may not be the best at it I get satisfaction from watching others play tennis.

Do you remember your first kiss: I was at a masque ball where I had been eyeing the most beautiful French courtier all night, I finally gathered enough courage to ask for a dance and she swept a deep French curtsey and took my arm, instantly I felt the eyes of the whole court shift to us as I proudly led the statuesque goddess out on the floor. When the dance was over I was rendered speechless and in the absence of my words without missing a beat she took her leave. Having squandered my only chance to speak with her, I retired away sorrowfully to quench the desert that was my throat. What I lost I soon found once again dancing with another gentleman. I took my chance to steal her away and finished the dance, and at the end the call went out to unmask and to my surprise it was not a maiden of the French court but an English beauty, a Howard, a Boleyn, the fairest of all the ladies of court, Anne. The court left to the garden for a midnight stroll. As we we walked we tarried behind the group as we spoke softly and found myself lost in her gaze, leaning toward her until our lips embraced.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: ‘Tis an uneasy task to do so, although I do attempt to, they are far away from me in Northumberland.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot:  When I was younger my most memorable vacation was to London, but now that I live there ‘tis no longer a vacation.

Have you ever been overseas: I’d like to keep my feet firmly planted on English soil.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: My floors are of elegant quarried stone.

What is your bed made of: A sturdy oaken frame with an exquisite goose down mattress covered in linen sheets.

How many people sleep in your bed:  I alone grace my mattress when I sleep.
