Chestnut the Satyr
Name Given at Birth: Ursa Minos Achilla Cyril Dimitur Gregoria Ixsander Bello Obelius
Nicknames: At birth, my father gave me many names that prophesied my greater destiny as a guardian and warrior. From my many names that my father bestowed upon me, my Mother called my Leda. After I left her side, for many a century the Grecian simply called me Sátyroi. When I was under Silenus I was satyrisci, the young satyr. As I grew tired of the Silenus, and the lazy debauchery of Dionysus, I took to Ares. My father had been under Eros, one of Ares' offspring. It was in my blood to follow the strong, not the fat and lazy. I trained to better, and distance myself from my half-witted brethren. However, few know that Ares has a vain humor. As my strength grew, to hold my pride at bay, he called me Chestnut. It is the deep color of my fur, and it did not aid that he was dining on dates and nuts when he dubbed me. Ever after moral and shadow call me so. The Fae at Titania's side also call me Guardian. Few mortals call me Bear or Ursa , after my patron animal. I often take the form.
Where were you born or created: My people are very seductive. Many a nymph and mortal have submitted to a Sátyroi lover. My father was under the God Eros, and so claimed many for his chambers. Only one woman was to be enchanted with child. She was a beautiful Spartan woman, tamed by no mortal man. My father's favorite affair, she was given me. After birth I met my father for a few brief moments. I was raised by my mother until puberty, when I joined the eternal realm, and began my journey through the world. Having given birth to a shadow being, she became a revered woman in her village. After her death they built a small temple in her honor. On the day of my birth I travel to it, lay flowers, and pray.
Current Residence: My native land is Sparta of Greece. My eternal home is the earth, and were ever Lord Oberon may travel. I am at his side, this is my home and ever my calling.
What do you do, your main function in life/society: When Lord Oberon cannot be troubled to fend off any opposing creature, I am his warrior. I protect the fae and shadow he and his Lady keep close. I also track for him. Never in sport do I kill. When I do make a kill for his Grace, I do honor the beast by making use of every part. What I cannot make use of, is given back to the earth.
Have you ever gone skinny dipping / do you know how to swim: Mortals look upon me and say that I am naked, and shamefully so. I see no shame in the form we are all created in. I believe this means that when ever I do swim, I skinny dip. I have faith that there is no other way to enjoy the elements.
Do you make fun of people: Any beast or being that deserves it. Mortals are my favored game.
Favorite Color and why: My wandering eyes enjoy any color that the earth gives forth. The bronze and copper metals are my favored shades.
Closest Friend(s)/How did you meet: I am blessed enough to know the where abouts of my loved ones at all times. Those I keep close happen to walk in Oberon's court. My dearest cousin, Ember. Our fathers tied our blood. As children we knew very little of each other. After we began our emortal lives without our human mothers, we trained with Ares for a time. Ember went about her own person affairs, and I heard nothing of him. When Lord Oberon traveled to the new world, Puke and I at his side, I met with Ember again. Oberon, impress with Ember as he was me, extended an court invitation to the shadow court. After calming my dear cousin, the reunion was quite joyous! Ember is the last of my family, and I love him so. There is no greater bond then that of Ember and I. This brings me to Lord Oberon. Was his strength to fail, I would fight for him. Though, I may never fear of this. As the King of Shadows, his will is eternal. As a friend of the Maestro's Kumpania I enjoyed many a night's revel. Oft' would Oberon slip form his Queen's sight and enjoy the Boleyn drum musings. One night the son's of the Maestro became restless. Each brother challenged the next, it was quite poetic, as a dance. Oberon issued his own challenge and began to claim victory over the mortal boys. I had already tried my hand at a true wrestling match with a number of the boys, and I too reveled in victory. The Great Lord tired of the humans as each feel to his feet. I came to his side and began the poetic fight. After a great time I was bested, and fell to his feet. Oberon honored me with an invitation to his court, so impressed by my will. It was in this court that I met Puke. A trouble some creature, I grew fond of him after he rekindled the love of merrymaking and mischief in my heart. Long had it left me. As this love of reveling in true joy grew, I bonded with one of Titania's creatures. Cobweb, a delightful fae. Our bond goes very deep, as she has taught me to appreciate myself, even the traits I don't particularly like. It is with her I spend my merrier days with. One of our favored games involves toads and the delight of bothering the romani Boleyn.
Pets: I befriend many a creature, however, I have never stay long in their domain. Nor would I dare confine them. There for, I cannot call them a pet. I do however, enjoy the company of bears, toads, birds, and spiders. Cobweb has taught me the Anansi language, so that I may speak to the eight legged people.
Favorite Type of Music: A healthy drum that can carry the night.
Hobbies/Pastimes: I oft' spent my leisure time conversing with toads. I also enjoy bears and birds, but they have less time to talk, and never stay long.
Favorite Food: I am a hunter for Lord Oberon. Game meats are my favored meal. But in respect of Ares' sister Artemis, I do not partake of venison, or greater stag meats.
Favorite Place to Relax: I do love basking in the sun, or the shade of a tree. Once, while sitting among the branches of a large ash tree, I heard a boy reading poems from a dark hide book. He sat, unaware of my presents, enjoying the ash shade. I could not recognize the language he spoke, but it was beautiful. Every twist and turn of his words captured my soul. Since then I have taken to simply listening to poems on the wind, and from any mouth. I seek to hear this tongue again, but no other has spoken it quite as this mortal did.
Favorite Drink: Virgin springs that the mortals have not touched. Form these comes the most delectable water and drink one could ever pass through their lips.
What’s your Bedtime: When my Lord's callings have retired for the time. This is when I sleep. But ever alert am I. I am a guardian, and when my protectorates are in need, I come to their call.
Are you married or single: I have yet to find a worthy mate. I am without a lover, and refuse to indulge in flighty, temporary affairs.
Favorite Entertainment: Most of my brethren enjoy the Sikinnis, the dance of the Satyr. However, when I denounced Dionysus, I left that tomfoolery behind. While I do enjoy a revel and the mischief I may partake in, it is wrestling that I enjoy. Any being or creature that believes the hooves or horn on my person are the mark of the pray breast, as sheep and cattle are, will challenge me. Oft' they find I am no babe and can be best only by great Gods. In the days that I spent with the Maetro's familia I discovered the joy in one particular game. When finished with their morning chores, the Boleyn boys would be allowed to have a short swim. The brothers would throw one another into the deeper waters. My form is quite confusing, some believe me female. I have my father's comely face to thank for this misfortune. None of the Boleyn boys would challenge me, nor would they accept mine. I took to the woods to calm my anger. When it does rouse, I am a force of nature with little mercy. As I walked, I grew bored of my satyr form, and took that of a bear. This be my patron animal. I came upon Netotsi, one of the Maestro's children, in this way. Most humans would run out of fear, but this boy stood his ground. His will reminded me of the wolf kin. I revealed my shape shifting to him as I changed back into my birth form. He offered a challenge, and I accepted with gratitude. For a time our meeting was marked by two claw marks upon his side. These may fade, but our friendship will not.
Most Humiliating Moment: I had been but twelve years upon this earth. Man, by the will of Gods, discovered wine. With it came their drunken stupors. While my mother slept I took to a pub, even in my early years I sought to prove myself. An apple-john stumbled into me, mistaking my prepubescent body for a little female, he sat me upon a table and ordered me to dance for the whole pub company. At this point I sprung on to his back and beat him wildly. As I nearly had him on the ground he rolled over and passed out. His girth was too much for my young form to lift. The proprietor released me and took to to my mother's home. It was a shameful defeat, and I tell few of it. I take comfort that all present at the pub have long passed away.
Proudest Moment: When Ares looked upon me, and accepted my discipleship. The only moment that could rival this is the moment he sent me on my journeys. Ares proclaimed and blessed me, that there was nothing more that I could learn from him. That I was a guardian, and was to remain on the moral plain forever. That I would protect being and beast alike. Though I may do so in many forms. Some would be human. In these forms, I would live and die. I would, however, be reborn as I am now. I accepted this fate, and proudly walk the earth with this purpose.
Craziest or Silliest Fey Person you know: Pan be of little since. As a great God, the Green Man, and creator of many he may do as he wishes. However, he for a time will commit himself to the servitude of Oberon. He also masquerades as a beggar human for his own amusement. He told me his reasons, but I find them to ridiculous to recall.
What do you look for in the opposite sex: I will not submit to a lover. I seek a worthy friend, one that will not attempt to overcome me, but instead, see me as an equal. I wish a strong willed mate. Also a heart that will take it's turn to listen and speak with soul. I know not if it will be mortal or of shadow and fae.
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them. Who is your immediate "overlord": As I am under his court, Lord Oberon is the being I look to. However, if Ares where to call for me and this call took me from Oberon's side, I must follow.
How do you feel about that person: His will is carried out through me and others he chooses. I go to my duty with pride and perform it with every existent of my being.
Favorite Sport to Watch: Any sport that two beings use to test strengths and will. Rarely will you find me watching such merriment. My heart pulls me to join any competition.
Do you remember your first kiss: I stole it fair! A water nymph sat under a water fall, basking in the element. I temped to resisted the urge of my people, but the will of Ares in me could hold no more. The kiss was mine, and I have no intention of giving it back!
Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: When I feel the need to wonder on my own there is no place, but rather a form I will take. I take that of a bear or wondering girl. As the bear, I am known to many a people as a storyteller. I will spend my leisure days spinning yarns that twist and ravel around the mind. As the girl I will only be seen under moon light. When I am she, I am the healer and guardian to the lost.
What is your bed made of: My bed is not defined by material nesting, but rather the company I sleep in. Under the stars is my preferred company. Or perhaps a kind noise form the nocturne. Never, but if I must, will I rest under a mortal roof.
How many people sleep in your bed: I tend to slumber on my lonesome. However, Ember on occasion, will join me to keep warm when the cooler night air calls. It is also my honor that when Titania's fae feel unsure in a new territory, will have me sleep by their side. I am their guardian, though most are older then me by millenia.
