Princess Scarabella
Name Given at Birth: Scarabella Carlotta Alopecia Rutabaga Acacia Bedelia d’Vulgar
Nicknames: My brother and sisters call me scary, but I insist that the English court call me _________.
Hometown or where you were born: The beautiful lands of Khaamskee, Vulgaria
Current Residence: My Papala’s palace in Khaamskee, Vulgaria
Age: 17 years of a wonderful yet trying life
Class: Royal
What do you do, your main function in life/society: My main function is to be married to a fine Vulgarian gentlemen and have many children. Let me just say that the whole idea disgusts me. Firstly, there are no Vulgarian gentlemen. Secondly, I am in high hopes to marry an Englishmen, or quite possibly a French gentlemen.
Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: I am very proud to say that I am capable of swimming, all thought my Papala believes I am deathly afraid of water for I refuse to swim alongside my family. As for the latter of the two, a proper princess never shares the secrets of the swimming hole.
Do you make fun of people: I do not and will not ever make fun of people, for I am ridiculed so often for my choice of colors and clothing that I am too exhausted to do anyone else harm. Also I do not have the heart to ridicule someone with the exception of my brother, Trichi, for his stupidity.
Favorite Color: My favorite color would have to be green for I very much enjoy the colors of the Earth around me. I also adore the color gold. I believe it signifies honor and very good tastes.
Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: The only crime I have ever committed is choosing to be different than the people of my country and my family, and I suffer from it every day.
Closest friends/How did you meet: My closest friends would have to be my brother Trichinella and my Papala. They are the only two of my family members that can actually look at me without crossing themselves or spitting at the sight of my so called hideous choice of clothing.
One Pillow or two: At the beginning of the day, my bed is adorned with the most beautiful pillows, sheets, and draping. As the day goes on I find that they go missing in little bunches. I do believe that there is a pillow thief in my palace and I have a sneaking suspicion that it is Decibella.
Pets: After the last trip to Canterbury and seeing the ladies mayors pet, I complained to Papala so much to have one that he just simply gave in. I am proud to say I now have a Kimpeeche. I am saddened though, for the only way I could receive it was that Papala named it, and he named it the most dreadful name. Melanoma. I call her Mellie.
Favorite Type of Music: I find that the best music I know of is that when my family is singing one of our many songs. It is wonderful to have the whole family sing in unison. Also the music sang by the Queen is quite enjoyable also.
Hobbies/Pastimes: My favorite pastime is seeing my sisters fight over who will own all the truffles and radishes after Papala. I also enjoy watching people make fools of themselves in front of my family. Since they have never seen quite a family they are not sure how to act. I have to say that some of the strangest people I have ever met live in Canterbury.
Personal Hygiene: Since my family is not known for smelling the nicest they could, I try to keep up the best hygiene possible. Unlike my sibling I know how to keep up my looks. My brother does not like to bath, and my sisters wear so much musk, you cannot go near them without having to hold your breath for several minutes on end.
Favorite Food: I believe my favorite food would have to be honey on anything. Because I very much love sweets. I also enjoy what the English call Turkey legs.
Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: My parents are very much alive but I fear I do not get along with my Mamala very much, she says that I cause her much worry because she fears I will never find a husband. My Papala and I speak to each other more but I see distaste in his eyes sometimes also.
If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: My parents are alive but I fear they will die from over consumption of the dreadful radishes they eat.
Favorite place to relax: I believe that my most favorite of relaxing places would have to be the room I have made for myself. It is located at the farthest end of the castle, where I cannot be heard or even seen. Over the years I have filled it with the most beautiful of present given to me by visiting courts. I dare say that if Mamala did happen to stumble upon it one day, she would surely die from lack of colors.
Favorite Holy Day / Why: Svyaatkee would have to be my favorite holy day because I get a few gifts, you see even though I am a princess, my Mamala and Papala enjoy to treat my other sibling to wonderful presents and I do not receive many. Decibella and Passionella tend to get most of the presents, which usually are not wanted and get thrown away the moment after they receive them.
Favorite Drink: My favorite drink would have to be mead. I adore this drink for it is the only one that makes a cold day turn warm and a hot summer day seem cool.
What's your bedtime: I enjoy staying up past the hour when the rest of my family sleeps. I tend to wander up to the tower and stare at the sky. There is a connection between a person and the stars that could not even be explained with words.
What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: I usually wear jeweled kügelhoppers, a present I once got from my Papala for being a good little princess as he says. They are the most exquisite pair of slippers I have. Perhaps Papala will let me bring them to Canterbury this visit, even though he sees no point in wearing such beauty on your feet when no on e will see them.
Are you married or single: I find that as I grow older the want for a husband grows more and more. I see now that I will never marry someone of my native country and now to need to look for better options in faraway places. I am very much hoping that this war not only brings my sister a husband, but also returns to me my knight in shining armor that I meet with every night in my dreams.
Do you have a family / who are they: Yes I have a very large family. My Papala, King Salmonella is the overseer of Vulgaria and all of the truffles and radishes that inhabit it. My Mamala, Queen Rubella is overseer of my Papala and also of myself and my siblings. I have four sisters and one peculiar brother. My eldest sister, Petronella, has just gotten out of a trying marriage and is hoping to find a new beau after this war. Carousella, Trichi’s twin, has been awarded the pleasure of watching after the castle while we are away. Decibella is odd. She is one year younger than I, but yet never fails to fall in with the children of the court. Passionella, the youngest, does not speak to me often for she is the most judgmental of all my sisters. I fear that she does not accept me for who I am. My brother Trichi is said to be the heir to the throne and as far as I am concerned, he can keep it. I have to admit Trichi is my most trustworthy sibling that actually speaks to me. He has proved to be a loyal friend and will one day make the best husband for the woman he chooses. My family has also acquired a jester.
Favorite Entertainment: My favorite entertainment would be the way my family reacts to our jester. You see when I found out that we were getting him, I admit that I was excited. We all gather in the dining hall awaiting his arrival. All in a matter of a few moments, the doors swung open with a thud and the scrawniest little person walked inside. I felt my mouth dropped as I stared at this man who was dressed in all black and crying, he who was supposed to bring laughter and entertainment. After a minute of silence my family roared with laughter at the sight. To this day they believe that his misery is the most enjoyable entertainment.
Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: I think my favorite subject would have to be learning about foreign places and how they live, for I enjoy learning about the cultures of others, especially England and France.
Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: I disliked learning anything with my siblings for if I couldn’t do something, they would tease me. I am keen to learn, and often ridiculed for wanted to know so much about things that have nothing to do with Vulgarian traditions.
Favorite Sport: I have come to learn that I quite enjoy the joust. I find staring at handsome gentlemen beating each other harshly is very entertaining.
Most Humiliating Moment: On the last visit to Canterbury, my first, an embarrassment occurred that would blow all others out of the water. One day my family and I were eating in front of the chapel in Canterbury. I was trying to stay as far away as possible so that the Queen would not associate me with the rest of them. Just as we were leaving, the Queen requested a song or two out of my family. Everything was fine until the being words of my coronation song were sang. I had to sing the most embarrassing song. Afterward I thought that was the worst it could have gotten, but I was sadly mistaken. In a whirlwind of bright colors accompanied by giggling and snorting, my dress was lifted up over my head to expose the bright pink undergarments I had below. I could feel my face turn the most hideous shade of red as my sister bellowed out “Look at Scarabella, she’s Vulgarian.” Let me just say that I was in hiding the rest of the day.
Proudest Moment: My proudest moment would have to be when I was allowed to sit in the throne next to Queen Elizabeth for the first time. I thought this was the greatest honor I had ever been so lucky to receive. I finally was allowed to have an intellectual conversation about England without being laughed at.
Craziest Person or silliest you know: That would have to be my dear brother Trichinella, he makes a fool of himself everywhere we travel to.
What do you look for in the opposite sex: I believe that a mind is better than any other trait a person can have. I would like to have a Gentlemen and not someone who will not treat me like an equal.
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord" : My Mamala and Papala
Favorite Sport to watch: watching my sisters compete to be the next in line for a throne it amuses me to see them get so upset about owning truffles.
Do you remember your first kiss: My first kiss has not happened yet. It saddens me to talk about such a subject. I believe that all of my sisters have had a kiss except for me. My Mamala says that I will never be kissed for my lack of manners and my horrible choice in clothing. On this trip to Canterbury I hope to prove her wrong. Then I think about the situation of this war. Once again the focus will be on Petronella and I fear that I will be forgotten and never find my Prince Charming.
Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: My only friends are my siblings and my parents, I do receive good acquaintances from the visitors at the palace but never keep in touch
Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: I believe it would be Canterbury, for everywhere else my family travels to I feel as I am an outsider. I am usually not allowed to speak to anyone, in fear that I would disgrace my family name and the country of Vulgaria.
Have you ever been overseas: My family and I travel all year round. I have been to so many places that I cannot begin to name them.
Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: We have stone floors in the palace, which make a good way to sneak about when I cannot sleep.
What is your bed made of: It is made of the finest khlawpak and filled with kooreetsa down.
How many people sleep in your bed: It is only I for my siblings believe that if they sleep in the same bed as I, they will catch a deadly disease. Also I tend to sneak up to the room I have made for myself. I find to be much more peaceful. And also It lets me escape from the dreadful snoring symphony of my family.
