Princess Passionella
Name Given at Birth: Princess Passionella Cornelia Saphira Ophelia Amelia Amalia Malia Rutabaga de Vulgar
Nicknames: Nella, little Nel, or Mamalla and Papalla's little Passion Fruit
Hometown or where you were born: Khaamskee, Vulgaria
Current Residence: the Royal palace at Khaamskee, Vulgaria
Age: 15 years of age
Class: Royalty
What do you do, your main function in life/society: to look after the citizen of Vulgaria and make Mamalla and Papalla proud by finding a wonderful husband.
Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: I do know how to swim, and, I will admit, I enjoy skinny-dipping ALONE in the lake near the castle under the stars.
Do you make fun of people: On two occasions only! One: they make fun of me. Or two: they know that I love them and make fun only in jest.
Favorite Color: Oh, but their are so many to choose from! But if I must choose one, I do quite enjoy the color pink, like a sunset.
Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: Oh no, no, no! Though I may occasionally borrow (seldom with permission) baubles from my sisters, they always show up again: between couch cushions, beneath table... You know, Petronella should really check the clasp of her favorite bracelet. It has a habit of falling off.
Closest friends/How did you meet: My closest friends are my older siblings, who I have known since birth.
One Pillow or two: Ten! Sometimes more. I like to cover the room with them when I jump on my bed in case I fly off. (but I try to jump quietly, because Papalla gets mad at me)
Pets: Petronella gave me a kitten from Sasha's last litter. I named it Mia. I also have a horse named Carmen and a little mixed breed doggy who wandered in to the garden one day. I named him Kusqi.
Favorite Type of Music: I enjoy gypsy music quite a bit, though I also enjoy it when my family sings all together.
Hobbies/Pastimes: I enjoy singing and reading, especially the plays of Shakespeare that the traveling players give to me. I love his comedies! My favorite is either "Romeo and Juliet" or "Hamlet." I laugh for days every time I read them!
Personal Hygiene: I bathe at least once a month. I am also very fond of sweet smelling oils and perfumes.
Favorite Food: Nothing can compare to steamed radishes in a nice lemon-butter sauce.
Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: Yes my parents are alive and well. I gat along with them fairly well though we have our occasional argument. But, as I am their babilla, their little Passion Fruit, they never remain cross with me for too long.
If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: When they do die, there is little chance that I would become queen. I would have to kill at least five people, and I lack the thirst for the kill that our guards seem to posses.
Favorite place to relax: Two places, depending on weather: under a tree outside on nice day or in the big comfy chair in my Papalla's study on cold or rainy day.
Favorite Holy Day / Why: The day of my namesake: St. Passionella's Day. It is celebrated on February 14 (I believe the English call it St. Valentime's Day) It is traditional on this day to carve a radish into the shape of a heart and give it to your beloved. The larger the radish, the larger your love for them! Every year, I carve a radish for everyone in family and the entire castle staff!
Favorite Drink: I very much enjoy the juices of exotic fruits that I have sampled on our family travels.
What's your bedtime: Mamalla sees that I am in bed promptly at nine o'clock. (but I do not always stay in bed.)
What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: silk slippers for walking around that castle, sturdy boots for walking out of doors.
Are you married or single: single
Do you have a family / who are they: Yes I have quite a large family: My papalla, King Salmonella, my mamalla, Queen Rubella, my sister, the princesses Petronalla, Carousella, Scaribella, and Decibella, and my brother, Prince Trichinella. Oh, and I mustn't forget my uncle, Portabella, the Vulgarian minister of war, though we have very different views and beliefs.
Favorite Entertainment: The singing and dancing of the gypsies.
Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: I enjoy studying literature and mathematics.
Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Geography! I have such difficulty remembering the names of capitals, though I do enjoy learning about the cultures of different countries. Especially those with strange customs, such as England.
Favorite Sport: I quite enjoy hide and go seeking. I know every good hiding place in the entire castle.
Most Humiliating Moment: Their was to be a gypsy revel in the woods near to the castle. My family was going to attend, but Mamalla said I was to young and had to stay at home with Nanalla. But, of course, I had a plan. I snuck down to the wine seller and retrieved a bottle of Papalla's best radish wine, which I knew Nanalla could not resist. I told her that Papalla wanted her to have it because he knew that she had wanted to attend the gypsy revel as well but instead must stay home and watch me. It was not long before Nanalla was asleep and snoring loudly by the fire. I then snuck out of the castle and to my first gypsy revel. Oh, the excitement, the music, the dancing, the color! As I drank it all in, I almost forgot to watch out for my family. Then, when the time came to dance the karabushka, a gypsy boy with the most gorgeous eyes asked me to dance. I do not know who he was, as he, like I, was wearing a mask. I do know this: as we danced around the fire, I could swear my feet never once touched the ground! When the dance ended, we where completely out of breath. He pulled me out to the side of the circle, and I leaned up against a tree to catch my breath. It was then that we looked into each others eyes. He slowly removed my mask. I was too enchanted to stop him. I closed my eyes as he slowly leaned towards me. I knew then that I would remember this night forever. "Get away from my sestra, you vile gypsy!!!" The cry rang through the revel, stopping it in its tracks. Before I knew what had happened, Tricky was chasing away the boy, who still held my mask, and my papalla was standing over me saying, "Princess Passionella Cornelia Saphira Ophelia Amilia Amalia Malia Rutabaga de Vulgar, just what do you think you are doing?" I still do not know who this gypsy was, but whenever gypsies come through town, I look for the boy who stole my mask.
Proudest Moment: My coronation ceremony. Though I was quite young, I still remember standing in front of the assembled guests as they all bowed to me. It was the first time I really felt like a princess.
Craziest Person or silliest you know: Our jester! No one tells better jokes then him!
What do you look for in the opposite sex: Intelligence and good manners. But what really draws me to a boy are eyes that seem to touch your soul when they meet yours... Oh, my heart is melting just picturing it!
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord" My papalla and mamalla. I suppose my siblings are over me as well, but I choose to take their instructions as... suggestions.
Favorite Sport to watch: The radish joust! What is better to watch then a handsome man on horseback spearing radishes on hi lance?
Do you remember your first kiss: Alas, it has not yet come... I blame Tricky entirely.
Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: Da, most of them live in the castle with me.
Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: I love the tropical islands, though it takes a very long time to get there. I have never seen so many colorful flowers in my life!
Have you ever been overseas: Da, I have traveled over seas many times with my family. It is quite fun!
Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: stone
What is your bed made of: The finest goose down fills my mattress, blankets and pillows. I can not stand to be cold!
How many people sleep in your bed: Only myself, but sometimes my pets join me. Carmen gets scared in the stable when it thunders, so I let her sleep with me.
10 Things Everybody Should Know About Me:
1. I know absolutely everything that goes on in the castle. People assume that, because I am young, my ears only work when instructed to when in fact, I never turn them off.
2. I eat just as much as anyone else in my family, oftentimes more! We Vulgarians are late bloomers, but when we bloom, we BLOOM! Mamalla puts me on a scale with farm animals once a week to measure my growth. So far, I have gained three entire chickens! Mamalla will not rest until I way an entire cow.
3. Speaking of farm animals, I do not like to eat meat. Not since I saw my papalla skin a deer after a hunting trip. When I hear of a killing of animals to take place, I hide as many as I can under my skirt, and then brag to Tricky that I can burp like a pig, chicken, goat, and calf, all at the same time.
4. I would be happy, even if I where not royal. But as long as I am, I want to try to make a difference in the world. Rank is irrelevant compared to what you try to do with it.
5. I can read and write almost fluently in six different languages. Three of which I invented.
6. I dream to someday rule a country, as Petronella will. Not necessarily Vulgaria, but I would like to be a queen.
7. I can not stand violence! Except for sporting purposes, such as jousts or tournaments. I quite enjoy those.
8. Though my uncalla, Portabella, and I disagree about many things, I still love him and always will.
9. Though I disagree with what Claude did to my sestra and my entire family, I do not believe war with the English is necessary. This is one conflict that can, and should be, solved peacefully.
10. I am still looking for the gypsy boy who has my mask. A message to him: If all you wanted was my mask, then you have it, so never go near me again, you Lilly-livered, action-taking, whoreson glass-gazing, super-serviceable finicall Rogue! But, if, as I, you came to the revel looking for something more that night, please make yourself known to me. Do not fear my brother, as I would gladly beat him into submission if so much as laid a hand on you. Perhaps our paths will cross at the Harvest festival. I will be waiting.
