Naerwyn Grieseldeig
Name Given at Birth: Nærwyn Greiseldieg
Nicknames: Acorn; for I love to spend time in the trees, and am often falling out of them as well. Ninny is a name that Faelwyn gifted to me when she was just a wink of 2,000 years.
Hometown or where you were born: I was born in a place not known to mortals.
Current Residence: The forest of Canterbury, but once it is the right time, my sister and I shall travel onward.
Age: 5,289. Time moves much slower for those of the elven race. To a mortal this might seem like an eternity, but for an elf, I am still very young.
Class: Elven
What do you do, your main function in life/society: I guide people in their times of despair and loneliness, to find reassurance and the right path.
Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim:Of course, why would one want to get their clothes wet? Water is such a delight!
Do you make fun of people: I often find myself mocking the mortals and their strange customs, in particular the manner of dress of the courtiers. Such big skirts they have! They remind me of toadstools.
Favorite Color: I love the golden hues of autumn leaves. I favor their colors so much that i like to keep them with me at all times.
Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: Last Harvest Faire I was browsing the trinkets at the shoppes when a gentleman complained that the plume from his hat had gone a miss. It was Titch who had run off with it. Alas, since mortals cannot see fairies, it was I who was left with the blame. I was so angered that I would be wrongfully accused that I considered hurting this man, but my sister soothed my mind before any more trouble could arise.
Closest friends/How did you meet:
- Faelwyn - She is my youngest sister, ever since we departed from the elven realm, we have never been apart. She is my source of constant amusement. Although we do not agree about many things, I respect her opinions(even if they are completely WRONG!).
- Tansy - It seems that I re-meet Tansy every day, for she can not recollect ever speaking to me. We tell each other the best stories, but she always forgets what story she has told me, I could recite the tale of the time she put a spider on Nadia the gypsy entirely from memory.
- Titch - She always gets me into the most trouble, but always shows me all of her treasures that she has found.
- Autumn - I met this Sprite on one of my first adventures in the woods by myself. I was in search of pretty leaves when a beautiful russet orange tree caught my eye, reaching blindly into the branches I grabbed what I thought was a tree branch. Much to my surprise A large flash of color fell unto the ground. It blinked a few times and looked right at me, then suddenly broke into a fit of laughter. We had both been after the same leaves! Our love of the woods made us instant friends.
- Callagh - it was storming badly and the trees were swaying in harmony with the winds, I heard whimpers and looked above me to see Callagh clinging with all of her might to a tree branch, she was quite convinced that she would blow away into the night and never be found again. I hold a special place in my heart for poor little Callagh, she is always shaking from fright. I try to find things to cheer her up, but she always ends up finding something horrendous about them.
- Teann - I was watching Kiangley chase after bubbles one morning when suddenly I was tackled by a sparkling burst of energy. She immediately interrogated me about why i wasnt joining in on the game, I told her that I was not able to fly. She is one special Fairie...She did not understand that I was not meant to have wings and constantly trys to find me suitable ones. I find a lot of humour in her attempts.
One Pillow or two: my pillow changes with the scenery, but I tend to prefer moss over a dull stone.
Pets: I consider the fairies my pets, they are always causing mischief..and I often find myself taking an awful lot of time tending to them.
Favorite Type of Music: Pan Flute. I hope that I may someday be able to enchant others with the haunting melodies...sadly all of my efforts have failed...so I have resorted to listening.
Hobbies/Pastimes: Collecting leaves and adventuring the various realms with my sister.
Personal Hygiene: Unlike mortals, I do not like being filthy. A "yearly" bathe is a very strange to comprehend. Sneaky little Lod makes it her goal to make me muddy when ever the time seems fit. Luckily, I can always hunt down a stream or brooke, even in such a "landlocked" place as this Canterbury.
Favorite Food: Sweet butter, and Pomegranates.
Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: My parents are Mother Earth, although I was brought up by an elven couple who took care of my sister and I until we were old enough to be on our own. They taught us all there was to know about the dangers of the worlds outside of the elven realm. We were not to go out of the safety of our homes in the trees. I did not understand why we had to spend our time hiding from the world, and decided to go fourth and find the answers to my questions with my sister.
If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: Although, I have not spoken to my guardians since i left them to see the world. I can still sense their presence on the earth.
Favorite place to relax: In a large pile of leaves.
Favorite Holy Day / Why: I love the mortals Harvest Faire, for there is much fun to be had, even for us immortals.
Favorite Drink: Wine. The Elves have a recepie that is far different than any that the mortals can produce.
What's your bedtime: My sister and I take turns at night making sure the fairies are safe from the outsiders who try to sneak upon their festivities at night. It is only when I feel sure that no harm will come of them that I can move myself to slumber.
What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: Moccassin boots, but when ere I have the chance I go barefoot. I love the feeling of moss and water on my bare feet.
Are you married or single: I am single, I do hope to meet more of my own kind. There are very few elves who wander away from the safety of home.
Do you have a family / who are they: My younger sister , she is very special to me. But it would be wrong not to consider all of the elves to be of my Kin since we were all sung into existence by mother nature.
Favorite Entertainment: The traveling gypsies, always rushing around, they are such a hardworking group. Yet they still have the energy to dance and revel into the wee hours of morning-tide.
Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Dancing in the meadows every morning at dusk, it was our job to sprinkle the fields with dew so new flowers and plants could grow. The best part was the secrecy, we had to make absolutely sure that the mortals did not watch this dance, or it would mean a bad crop that season.
Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Finding different herbs and roots for my guardians to make healing ointments...Mandrake Roots are too fussy for my liking.
Favorite Sport: I love to race the animals in the trees with my sister.
Most Humiliating Moment: My sister and I were having running through the treetops chasing the birds when I lost my footing and fell into a mire.
Proudest Moment: My sister and I were traveling through Vulgaria when Faelwyn spotted a young girl crying. Upon closer inspection we saw that it was the young vulgarian princess Scarabella. She was rambling on about running away and becoming an english woman. I thought it silly to run away and assumed that her parents would be worried sick. We guided her back to the castle much to her dismay, on arrival though her parents were very overjoyed to have their daughter back, although her siblings did not seem too happy about this.
Craziest Person or silliest you know: My younger sister, she can not stand the mortals, but still wants to know as much as she can about them. She is always telling jokes to the Ents of the forest as well. They are quite funny, although the fairies and mortals think this to be strange.
What do you look for in the opposite sex: Very Pointy ears.
In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord" Mother Nature, she sung me into creation, so she holds my upmost respect and adoration.
Favorite Sport to watch: The Fairies Catching bubbles, Kiangley is the best at this, she knows all of the secrets for this game.
Do you remember your first kiss: Please do not remind me of this...I have tried for almost two thousand years to erase it from my memory. I was tricked into kissing a mortal male. It was dreadful!
Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: The only childhood friend I still keep in touch with is Autumn, she is the only friend aside from my sister that I would never forget about.
Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot:
Have you ever been overseas: Yes, I have traveled all over the world with my sister in order to better understand all living creatures, it is not difficult for elves to go overseas, for we are not bound to using boats like the mortals, we have the sea creatures to lead us where we see fit.
Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: I have the floors of the Earth.
What is your bed made of: Wherever I lay down to sleep becomes my bed, whether it be a branch, a cave or even a field of flowers.
How many people sleep in your bed: It changes every eventide, but I prefer to sleep alone, the fairies tend to make weird noises in their slumber.
