Scarletta

Name Given at Birth: Scarletta Labou

Nicknames: Some call me Scarlet. I know the troupe calls me Scarfs-alotta, Scores-allota, and Slutts-allota.... *sigh* Ai, but that's what happens when people are jealous of you.

Hometown or where you were born: I was born in Sweden. Though shortly after I was born my family move to a small town in the south part of France called Arles.

Current Residence: I travel with the Troupe Festival. Where ever our Vardo is, is where my home is.

Age: 20

Class: Gypsy

What do you do, your main function in life/society: Though I have many resposibilities around the troupe, my main goal in life is to find someway to repay Esmerelda and Xavior for their kindness. They invited me to join the troupe when I was starving and living all alone. Hopefully I'll be able to earn enough coins from dancing and singing to get them something special. Though it may be hard to find Xavior now that he has left our troupe. I do hope he has very safe travels.

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: My parents taught me to swim at a very young age. As for skinny-dipping... perhaps I should leave that for your imagination. And, dear men, with that image in your minds, I can forsee you will having very wonderful dreams tonight.

Do you make fun of people: Of course. Sometimes you have to be the insulter, else you'd be stuck being the one constantly picked on.

Favorite Color: Without a doubt, my favorite color is blue. It brings out the color in my eyes. The men will stare longly in my eyes while I releave them of their heavy coin purse.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: I have never taken anything that the person did not want me to have. Perhaps you were thinking of Viola....

Closest friends/How did you meet: Viola- She would probably be the best friend I've ever had. She is like the little sister I never had. True, we argue, cause each other to get in trouble, and constantly tease each other but I promice you this... she started it.

Theodosia- She's so quite and such a sweet little girl. A perfect Angel really, I don't know why Adonis doesn't think so though.

Esmerelda- I have so much to thank Esmerelda for, I just hope I may be able to repay for one day for inviting me to join Troupe Festival. After all, she did save me from a life, alone on the streets.

Marlaina- Ah, Marlaina is the best. She taught me how to use my...how to put it.... my.... "natural talents" to get exactly what I want from the Gaji. She has also recently started to claim me as her little Phei since I am without any family of my own besides the troupe.

Xavier- Xavior was probably the most understanding of our troupe. Whenever I was having a horrible day I always knew he would listen to me and help me through it. He shall be missed

Sapphira- What to say about Sapphira....probably the most annoying gypsy in the troupe.... but I suppose every troupe has one Baro Moy, oui?

Adonis- He is quite amusing but he does have a good heart underneath all that ego. I know he would do anything to ensure our troupe's safety.

Martino- Ai, and let's not forget Martino. He did join our troupe not too long ago. I believe he was jealous when he heard Adonis was traveling with so many beautiful Chavis.

One Pillow or two: I share two pillows with Viola and Theodosia. And by share I mean it's "whoever get their chores done and gets back to the vardo first" gets the pillows. I can't help it if I just happen to be the fastest runner.

Pets: I have many "pets"... I believe you call them men.

Favorite Type of Music: I loved it whenever Xavior sings. I remember one night, I kept having nightmares about my parents and he came over and sang me to sleep. .... I shall miss him.

Hobbies/Pastimes: Oh I have so many things I love to do to pass the time. Making and winning bets with Viola would have to be my favorite one. Besides that there is always singing and dancing.

Personal Hygiene: I like to stay as clean as possible. After all, who would want to give coins to a dirty gypsy... unless that is what they were looking for. In that case though they could always go to Madame Red or one of her girls. I am a gypsy, not a stumpet. You may look, but not touch... unless told otherwise.

Favorite Food: Any fruit or anything juicy. I perfer food that I do not have to cook. Trust me, it is better for everyone if I do not cook. You want to stay healthy after all. That will not happen if you eat anything I try to prepare.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: My parents passed away when I was 10. I think of them everyday though.

If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: I am not really sure exactly how it happened. All I know is my parents use to harber lonely travelers in our house. However the guards in the town did not seem to like this. Whenever they'd come around my mother would play this game with me. She called it hide and sneak. I was to go around the house and whatever I found that the travelers would've left behind, I was to hide from the guards. They would search the house from top to bottom but they would never find anything. I was a smart child, everything I found I hide in a small cave by a stream a little ways from our home. No one else knew about that place but myself.

One day while I was collecting items from the previous travellers, the guards came without a warning. While my father distracted the guards my mother told me they were trying to cheat and told me to hide whereever I had placed the items and not return home until after the sun had set. I did as I was told. I did not want to loose the game. I ran faster then I had ever ran before to my secret spot and stayed there until the sun started to set. I returned home but my house was no longer there. It had been burned to the ground. I searched through the rubble but the only thing I found was a bracelet my mother wore. I always wear it. It is all I have left to remember my parents by.

Later on I learned my parents had been offering a haven to "breakers of the law", including gypsys. All the items I had been hiding were what they would leave to thank my parents for their hospitality. It's funny really, I was able to survive on my own because I was able to sell all those items. Of course I didn't sell them all at once, and I traveled to the neighboring villages. As I've already said, I'm a smart child.

Favorite place to relax: Every time our troupe comes to a new village I try to find a nice quiet spot in the woods, hopefully with a small stream. Of course I never tell the others in thr troupe about it. It reminds me of my "secret spot" from my childhood.

Favorite Holy Day / Why: My Birthday of course. I love having all the attention on me.

Favorite Drink: Hot apple Cider. It really hits the spot on a cold, rainy day.

What's your bedtime: Whenever my chores are finished and after I win the nightly struggle over the pillows with Theodosia and Viola. They seem to forget just who got the pillows.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: Leather sandles "given" to me by a local merchant in the last city we visited.

Are you married or single: Single of course. It would be such a crime to all the men in the world if I belonged to only one man.

Do you have a family / who are they: Troupe Festival is my family.

Favorite Entertainment: Watching Viola run from the guards whenever she gets caught. It so amuzing to see her try and weasle out of it, she really must learn to be more persuasive. But I suppose not everyone can be as convencing as I can be.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Cleaning the house while my parents distracted the guards. I was so innocent back then, I never would've guessed what they really had me doing....

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: Cooking... there are times I have been the only one in the troupe who had the time to cook and everytime the troupe has said to make sure I NEVER get stuck cooking again.

Favorite Sport: Watching women trying to flirt. I could tell them everything they are doing wrong... for a small fee of course.

Most Humiliating Moment: Do I really have to repeat it? I try so very hard to block that night from my memory. Fine..... our troupe was invited to perform for the Vulgarians Prince's 16th birthday celeration. I knew nothing of the Vulgarians and their.... unique ways.

During the ride to Vulgaria Viola and myself got into quite the arguement. It was about the fact I can woo anyone, at anytime and convince them to give me whatever I wanted from them. She of course, denyed this and places a challenge before me, too woo the Vulgarian Prince during our performance and convince him to give us another pillow for our vardo. I, of course replyed by asking if she had a specfic color in mind.

During our dance, I kept making sure that the Prince would make direct eye contact with me. I wanted until one of Esmerelda and Adonis's arguements and until I made my move. I moved in close to the Prince and reveranced as low as I possibly could. I asked the Prince if he was enjoying our show. I did not know that the standard Vulgarian acceptance was a very loud belch. I also did not know the dear Prince's mouth was full of food. Perhaps I should say, was wull of food. My face was completely covered. The worse part was Viola came over and told me that if I whiped the food off my face, it would offend the Vulgarians... so I finished the show covered in the Prince's dinner.

However I still won the wager. After we were done performing, while the entire troupe stayed and picked up coins off the ground, I snuck out and went to the nearest fountain to clean my face. I could hear someone approaching from behind and I spun around, ready to fight. However, it was only the Vulgarian Prince. Apperently he had heard the riticul from the other gypsys and wished to know if there was anything he could do for me to aplogize stating he did not know what would be a proper apology in my country. So I told him all would be forgiven if I could have a pillow. So, though Viola will never let me forget that day, I willl never let her forget that none the less, I still won the bet.

Proudest Moment: When I returned the favor to Viola. I tripped her during our dance in Bavaria and she landed flat on the King's lap. The best part was I did not get blamed for it at all.

Craziest Person or silliest you know: Adonis. It is so funny to see him wooing every women he mets. We all know that he, in truth, only has eyes for Esmerelda.

What do you look for in the opposite sex: What every girl wants I suppose. Sense on humor and who can save me if I ever do get in trouble.

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord": Esmerelda.

Favorite Sport to watch: Whenever our troupe tries to figure out who is the best dancer. I can't tell you how many of those contests have resulted in someone breaking something or worse, each other.

Do you remember your first kiss: Well.... that is a funny story really. It was shortly after I started to travel with Troupe festival. It was late at night and I could not sleep. I decided to go for a little evening stroll around the forest, ignoring Sapphira's warnings from earily that evening. She kept ranting something about beware the queen of the fairys and to not fall into tempation, lest I wanted to feel her wrath. I concidered the source and blocked her reading my mind.

While I wondered around the forest I realized that I had gotten myself completely lost, which is very strange concidering I have a wonderufl sense of direction. I heard what sounded like a man and woman arguing but saw no one around. The arguing grew louder and louder but I still saw absolutely no one. The last thing I heard was the man saying, "I'll show you....." and then the forest fell completely silent.

The next thing I knew I felt a hand on my shoulder. I quickly spun around and saw this man standing before me. He asked if I was lost and offered to help me find my way back to my vardo. I don't recall exactly how long we walked the forest together but it seemed like we walked for hours. Finally we came upon a stream next to a nearby field of lillies. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. I turned to ask him where we were but he placed a hand on my lips. The leaned in and thanked for me my service. "I can tell she is very jealous right now, thank you. But... just to make sure..." And with that said, he leaned in and kissed me. Then he simply turned and walked away. I was completely confused.

Then I heard a woman's angry yell coming from above me. I looked up to see this lady, staring down at me. She jumped down from her hammic and landed right in front of me. I tried to run but the vines around my feet tightened, knocking me to my knees and holding me in place. The woman leaned into my face and told me that if she ever saw me with Oberon again I would regret it. She then thrusted her arm upward and the vines lifted me off the ground. I was then thrown from branch to branch until I was back at my vardo. I woke everyone up and told them of what had just happened. I described the two to Sapphira. She told me the lady was Titania, queen of the fairys and not exactly one I'd ever want to mess with again.

I just pray I will never see either one of them ever again.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: No, didn't really have any. Besides, we travel too much to even make it possible to stay in contact with them.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: Anywhere where it's warm. I spent far too many nights freezing as a child to like the cold anymore.

Have you ever been overseas: Yes of course. We had to cross the sea to reach England.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: Our vardo has wood floors though I dream of covering it completely one day with pillows

What is your bed made of: Straw and Down. It also has a large blanket.... however Viola loves to hog that.

How many people sleep in your bed: Three. Myself, Theodosia and Viola.

10 Things Everybody Should Know About Me:
