Roseline Jade Corador

Name Given at Birth: Roseline Jade Corador

Nicknames: Rose, Jade, Pocket Size Dancing Girl

Hometown or where you were born: I was born in the beautiful village of Canterbury.

Current Residence: I, through the 16 years of my life, still to this blessed day have yet to leave the village of Canterbury

Age: I have passed a full 16 winters in my life.

Class: I am of the lower sides of the middle class.

What do you do, your main function in life/society: I be a gardener for my father, the owner of the blessed garden of Canterbury, which has been passed down in my blood lines for years. Though it seems that I can only grow beautiful roses….however even when I can manage to grow those, they are not alive for very long.

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: Nay, for I have lived in Canterbury all my life and there is no such place to be doing such things…not to mention, such things as these are but most improper and un-ladylike.

Do you make fun of people: Nay, I could never do that, for such a thing is improper and could consequence in such things of which I would not like to partake in…however my friends and fellow maypole dancers are another tale.

Favorite Color: My favorite color is red, for it is the color of my favorite flower—the only flower I can grow—the beautiful red rose.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime: I have never and hope that I certainly will not be committed or convicted f such a retched thing as that. Well unless killing plants is a crime, for that I seem to do a lot. I really ought to seek some help in my gardening woes.

Closest friends/How did you meet: I have many friends whom I have met over my 16 summers, and a great deal of them I now dance with at the maypole.

  • · Melody and Clef are in great harmony to my life. I did come to their acquaintance when I did join the other girls at the maypole, for they are out twin violinists! They are the only two twins I do know who seem to get along, and such fun we all do have together!
  • · Goldie is a very good friend of mine…even if she does think I stole an apple from her orchard. Really I met her a long time ago when Father did ask me to go and buy apples, for some very important people to my father were coming for supper.
  • · Katrina, Bowen and Alianna Christine are the daughters and son to the local farmer. I did meet them when my father sent me to go and buy food.
  • · Rowana Woodstock is the Carpenter’s daughter. Father did once send me to go and buy lattice for the gardens.
  • · Luella Wadcomes is daughter to the candle maker, and they do often come to us for flowers to scent their candles.
  • · Lacey Ribbons, what a lovely name, is daughter to the ribbon maker, and often I will buy ribbons from her so that I may use them in the making of flower bouquets.
  • · George is also a dear friend of mine, for he is out other violinist and such beautiful music he does make…I am of suspicion that perhaps he wishes to become a violinist for the Queen herself…though a musician whom would dream not of this I know not.
  • One Pillow or two: I merely have one pillow, stuffed with lovely smelling rose petals and the leaves of the plants from out garden.

Pets: I did once have a pet rock, though at the dear age of ten years he did pass into better lands…I do miss my pet rock terribly so.

Favorite Type of Music: My favorite music would be that of the lovely violin. I love to listen to the beautiful harmony George and other musicians like him can create with such a lovely instrument.

Hobbies/Pastimes: I love to dance when I have the time, and I also enjoy writing.

Personal Hygiene: I do try to keep clean, however ‘tis not an easy thing to be doing when one is always working in the earth and gardens.

Favorite Food: I do love the meats of turkey and chicken, and rose petals—while they are still alive—make a lovely treat as well.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: I am very fortunate to be able to say that my mother and father are both alive and well.

  • · My father and I however do not get along so well. For, you see, he owns and works the lovely garden in Canterbury, and well I must say that I am of no help to him. I just can not seem to get that green thumb he speaks of, though I did try wrapping a leaf around my thumb…it didn’t help much. I try very hard to help in the gardens, but it seems that all I can do is kill any plants given to me to care for—well except roses…it does seem that I can care for those until they have bloomed…then they all die. And I must tell you, trying to sell dead and dried roses is not an easy task…and so my father is not always so happy with my work.
  • · My mother is a whole other story. I have not seen much of her over these past few years due to her travels to find new and exotic plants to be adding to the gardens. But from all I can remember my mother and I were the best of friends. She is very nice to me, and for this I am but very grateful.
  • If your parents are dead, when and how did they die: I am very lucky to say that both my lovely parents are well and alive.

Favorite place to relax: I do love to relax around the fountain and to play in it when I do have the times. I believe that the flowing waters within it are absolutely beautiful.

Favorite Holy Day / Why: My favorite Holy Day is Mayday because that Holy Day is but a very good business proposition for my family and I. However, this does also seem to be a time when father is most firm with me due to my gardening woes causing him problems during a time when many would like to buy our flowers.

Favorite Drink: I do love the taste of cider- most especially Goldie’s apple cider.

What's your bedtime: when the sun goes down I have chores around the house like cleaning and doing anything that Father does wish of me. Though after I have finished these things I am often going to bed…well except for when I sneak out. The other dancers and I meet about once a month to do midnight wrappings of the maypole.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet: I tend to wear whatever fits, though Father bought me new dark leather gillies for the harvest festival.

Are you married or single: I am still single. Father is trying to find me a suitor but this doesn’t seem to be much of a promising thing…and though Father does not know, there is a gentleman whom I would love to be betrothed to…I am terribly sad that the dear thief of Canterbury has gone…he really was a good spirit despite what many did think, and all that he stole went to the good souls of the poor within the village. However he is gone now, his family did migrate away to Ireland.

Do you have a family / who are they: I have my father and mother, even though I don’t see her much, and I did have an older sister, though she died shortly after I was born. She had passed 3 summers, or so Father told me.

Favorite Entertainment: I would have to say that my favorite entertainment is marveling at Goldie’s apple orchard, or dancing with her. I love her orchard…it grows! I love to dance with the girls.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: I loved getting to learn to write!

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up: I certainly do not like weeding the gardens…I get so messy and well…in my garden it’s all dead, thus I cannot tell the difference from the weeds and my plants.

Favorite Sport: I love the games that we play with Goldie! We have many lovely games such as hot apple, capture the ribbon, catch the pinecone, and Maypole Dancers!

Most Humiliating Moment: My most humiliating moment was when I was dancing the No-Name dance for their Vulgarian Majesties and I did trip over one of my ribbons and fall. Now normally I am to think that falling in a dance for one of much higher class than myself would be of an utmost insult to them…this is where I was wrong! For the Vulgarian princess Decibella did tell me that ‘twas quite alright, for she and her family do fall a lot…though not normally while dancing, but trying to sit. Has though ever laid eyes upon their Vulgarian majesties? Well I must tell you if you do, do be careful for the ladies do have but the biggest of skirts! However my falling was not my humiliating moment, for ‘twas after. I did then notice the size of their hooped skirts and did ask Decibella (as I now regret), "Your highness are there children hiding under your skirt, for they would certainly fit. I do hear but much giggling, but cannot see the source of such children!" Her Highness did but step to the side and I saw the children…and I then realized the insult I had let slip from my tongue. Still to this day I have not found out why the children were laughing, though I have learned to hold my tongue and think before I do speak!

    Proudest Moment:

Craziest Person or silliest you know:

What do you look for in the opposite sex: I do very much like a gentleman to be kind hearted, though I must way that I also require a man with the money to care for me and a house over my head!

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them, Who is your immediate "overlord": My father is the person to whom I answer to, though I would have to say that nature also seems so serve as an overlord to us as well.

Favorite Sport to watch: I love to watch the sword fighting, but I would have to say that my favorite sport to watch is the joust…such courageous men!

Do you remember your first kiss: I do remember once while I was in the garden, the local thief Endale came by to visit me as I was working. During his visit I continued to work and he would talk to me, this we did often. Then upon his last visit, he came to tell me that he was leaving, they were moving to Ireland, and he gave me a hug goodbye and kissed me. I must say I was rather startled, for I knew that I liked him, I just wasn’t so sure how he felt about me…it’s just too bad that I learned of his feelings on the last time I would likely ever see him.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends: Aye, that I do, for most of my childhood friends are the fellow members of our village, and still to this day I am still friends with them. my only childhood friend whom I have not kept in touch with is Endale.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot: My favorite vacation spot is really just my favorite place to rest, for I do not tend to have the time for any "vacation", but this spot it by the beautiful fountain of Canterbury. I love looking into the waters, and feeling the mist from the splash of the water.

Have you ever been overseas: Nay I have not, for I have never left Canterbury.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: I do live in the home of my father, and so I am lucky to say that I have wooden floors.

What is your bed made of: my bed is made from my old rags, and is stuffed with the petals and leaved from out garden.

How many people sleep in your bed: I am the only one that sleeps in my bed, well or any bugs or animals whom may be hiding within it.

10 Things Everybody Should Know About Me:

    1. Goldie thinks that I stole an apple from her orchard, but truthfully—and Billy was there, was the only witness—I was getting an apple from one of her trees and was looking around for Goldie so that I mayhaps could pay for the lovely fruit, but she scared me and I tried to run away. Thus I did not steal any apple!! however my punishment was to dance with the other children at the maypole, that I very much enjoy.

    2. I have never had much of a green thumb, though I do wish I was better at my gardening, mayhaps then father would not always be do cross with me.

    3. I am quite the flirt, for father does want me married off, and I must say that some days I wouldn’t mind being a little farther from him. Mayhaps this flirting will someday find me a suitor.

    4. My cousin from Essex does often come to visit me in Canterbury, and will bring her two sons as well, mayhaps you shall meet them this harvest festival?

    5. I love distorting the English language into lovely poems, for I am very happy father taught me to write.

    6. The Jolly Rogers named me Pocket Size Dancing girl when we did first open for the pub sing. After all I am the shortest in our group.

    7. I was named after the flower that did seem to be my destiny. Father was in the garden trimming the roses when he did learn that my mother was bearing child. They decided that if ‘twas a boy he would be named Jaden, after my fathers mother Jade, or if ‘twas a girl (as I rightly am!) I would be named after the very flower my father was by.

    8. Though father does get cross with my about my gardening he does know that I try very hard, and he still loves me so.
