Jocelyn Potter

Name Given at Birth: Jocelyn Potter

Nicknames:  Jo, Lynn. Some people tend to call me Pumpkin because of the colors of my skirts.

Hometown or where you were born Canterbury, England

Current Residence: Canterbury, England

Age: 18

Class: My mother and father are the village potters, so Lower Middle
class.

What do you do, your main function in life/society: I help make pottery, then I help sell it. I also cook and clean the shop and our house above the shop.

Have you ever gone skinny-dipping / do you know how to swim: I know how to wade. And as for the skinny-dipping, I can say that I was once tricked into the creek by a certain young stable boy, and that I happened to leave my clothes behind. Alright, maybe I've been tricked into the same creek by the same stable boy more than a few times, but there's no need to get fussy over particulars.

Do you make fun of people: Yes, and often. Bowen and Luella are both quite easy to make fun of and I see them most every day. But I only kid because I love.

Favorite Color And why? Orange. It is bright and lively, and I like to think I am too.

Have you ever committed or been convicted of a crime. Goldie seems to think I stole an apple from her tree last year. The only time I actually get blamed for stealing apples was the one time I didn't steal any apples!

Closest friends/How did you meet:

One Pillow or two - Only one. My mother tends to hate anything in excess, which is quite interesting seeing as she has pots and vases and bowls everywhere in our house.

Pets - We have a few rats in the shop, and when I was younger, I sculpted a badger out of clay. I sometimes consider Bowen as a pet, as he likes to irritate me.

Favorite Type of Music: Anything with a good beat that I can dance to. I like the fiddle, flutes and bagpipes, but I also enjoy listening to the gypsies' music when they do revel.

Hobbies/Pastimes - I don't have much time during the day to do fun things as my parents are quite strict, but I like to sneak to gypsy revels with Goldie and Kat and flirt with gypsy boys. I greatly enjoy playing tricks on Bowen, and do so whenever I can spare the time. I also consider procrastinating a great hobby, and I like to do it often.

Personal Hygiene - I usually bathe only twice a year, as bathing more than that robs your skin of necessary oils and can cause you to get sick. But as I often end the day covered in clay from potting, I wash daily.

Favorite Food - Whenever I can spare the money, I buy the most delicious apples from Goldie. Whenever I would rather spend my money on other things, I steal the most delicious apples from Goldie.

Are your parents alive, do you get along with them: Yes they are alive, but we rarely get along. My mother is very strict, which often causes me to rebel. My father is a pushover and mostly agrees with my mother.

Favorite place to relax - I don't get to relax often, but when I do, it's often under a tree somewhere.

Favorite Holy Day / Why - I love the day of Saint Quirinus, because it takes place on my day of birth, and also because he has a funny name.

Favorite Drink - The juice of Goldie's apples.

What's your bedtime? My parents usually go to bed with the sun and do not realize that I often sneak out and do not get home until the wee hours of the morning.

What, if anything, do you usually wear on your feet? I bought I nice pair of shoes from the cobbler's daughter, Lily, with the money I saved stealing apples instead of buying them.

Are you married or single? Single. My mother is looking for a suitable husband for me, but I do not really want to settle down anytime soon.

Do you have a family / who are they? My mother is the unofficial head of the household. My father, Harold Potter, doesn't say much, but I know he secretly resents playing second fiddle to my mother.

Favorite Entertainment: Hiding Lacey's ribbons and watching her try to find them. It is the most amusing thing you will ever see.

Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up? I really enjoy making fancy pots. Unfortunately, most people prefer useful pots to fancy ones, so I do not often get to make them.

Least Favorite Subject in School or Chore growing up? I hated pumping the pottery wheel; it made my right calf significantly bigger than my left one. Luckily, now they have evened out a little bit so you can't really tell.

Favorite Sport (to do): I really enjoy dancing Irish and Scottish dances. I only like bragging once in a while, but I'm unnaturally gifted at it.

Most Humiliating Moment? A wealthy gentleman consigned 2 dozen pots for his kitchen. My parents slaved for days making those pots, and when it came time to deliver them, they told me I could do it. I was walking up to the door of his estate, and I tripped over a crack in the ground and all the pots fell to the ground and shattered. I had to go home and tell my mother I broke all the pots. I reckon my left buttcheek has never been the same twice.

Proudest Moment? The day I finally made a pot that satisfied my mother's scrupulent standards.

Craziest Person or silliest you know: Luella quite often trips over things that don't exist. I don't understand it.

What do you look for in the opposite sex: I am usually quite attracted to artists of any shape or form. A gypsy told me once to avoid artists at all costs as they will only cause me heartache, but I tend to ignore wise advice if it isn't something I want to hear.

In our Hierarchical Society everybody has somebody "over" them. Well, technically it would be my father, but it's really be my mother.

and How Do You Feel about that person: She's very strict and tends to
overreact, but she's my mother and I love her.

Favorite Sport to watch: The joust.

Do you remember your first kiss? When I was about 14, the miller's son (who is extremely fat, and smells strongly of cow manure) lured me behind our shop and kissed me while I was busy counting the pimples on his face. Thankfully I have had many kisses since then, and none quite so disgusting.

Do you keep in touch with your childhood friends? I have lived in Canterbury my whole life, so my childhood friends are still my friends.

Where is your favorite "Vacation" spot? I still enjoy climbing Goldie's apple trees, although now I don't fall out of them quite so much.

Have you ever been overseas: Nay, I have never had the fortune to leave Canterbury.

Do you have Dirt/Mud floors or Stone: We have stone floors, although you usually can't tell for all the clay covering the floor.

What is your bed made of: It is a mattress filled with straw; it tends to get quite scratchy in the summer.

How many people sleep in your bed: Just me.

3. I do not desire to get married; I would love taking over the pottery myself, but I know it is my parents' wishes that I am to be wed.
4. It is said that I resemble a pumpkin because of the colors of my skirts, and that is well for I do adore pumpkins!
5. I really enjoy dancing, and do every year at the Harvest Festival.
6. I'm not very graceful; I tend to run into things and knock them over. I am not as bad as Luella, though, who trips over things that do not even exist!

8. I believe that it is against men's nature to be faithful, so it is
best just to treat them as playthings and not wish for anything more.

10. I am not easily flattered with words. If a lad wishes to woo me,
