Wendy's page Hey Gang,
Half of our cast do not have character surveys up. Rnee' says she only has about three to post.
Please get your surveys in.
Some of you are having issues with your costumes and getting items to your seamstresses...I'm not sure why I'm telling you to remedy this situation - but fix it...we're 5 weeks out, people!
July 29th is our final apprentice meeting and final big point grab challenge as we are collecting back to school supplies for the Della Lamb organization. You can earn up to 10 points for each item (the more money spent = more points) you bring in. We'll be working on Character to Patron Interactions as well. I've attached a copy of the Cup points for your enjoyment!
Academy at Cornerstone Church. July 31: 7-10 PM, August 1: 9AM -Noon, August 2nd: 1-4 PM and August 3rd: 7-10 PM. Alice and I are matching who has met qualifications and who is still in process of meeting qualifications depending on your year of tenure at KCRF. Most of you have taken care of the bulk of your hours so this should be a snap!
Promos are still going strong so contact Roger at the office to sign up! 913-721-2110.
Hope to see all of you Wednesday,
WendyHello Everyone!
I've attached the Canterbury Team Cup totals for the week of July 20th....Green is boasting the number one position again while Purple and Blue are battling it out for the number two spot-not much space for a comfy lead!
I want to express many thanks and kudos for the 30 people that showed up for the Scavenger Hunt this past Saturday. I truly appreciate your time and effort coming out...especially dealing with a concert as well. I hope that you had a good time exploring Canterbury and searching things over. I will take the time on Site Day to stay after if any first years would like to take a tour-just let me know.
Please note: We've NO apprentice meeting this week due to Footloose!
Email character surveys to either me or Rnee' as soon as possible!
Our next faire related meeting is on July 29th at Cornerstone Church. The next apprentice challenge is to bring in school supplies for the Della Lamb organization. For each item you bring in, you get a point. The more larger the item (backpacks, binders, etc), the more points you get.
Following the apprentice meeting is the 2nd portion of the KCRF Academy, starting July 31st.
And then we dive right into the final month of preparations for festival! As far as I know, the calendar on the website is officially on par with the course after this week.
You have done a terrific job with many obstacles and a messed up schedule. I thank you so much for your patience and loyalty to keep flexible with everything this year! If you have a costume, survey on the web and made it to most of our meetings-pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
You are all talented and dedicated individuals and I am grateful to help you out and be your Apprentice Coordinator. See you on the 29th!
WendyWanda aka "Kit" MarloweHello everyone! (Subliminal message: TURN IN CHARACTER SURVEYS!)
Just a little reminder that for apprentices (and fellow veteran cast if they so choose), there will be a Scavenger Hunt on July 18th at the festival site from 2 pm until 5 pm. I shall be at the front gate with your first precious clues....hehehehehe!
For your assistance, I've attached a map of our shire; make certain to print this out and bring it with you for your time this Saturday, it will come in handy!
The Canterbury Cup is really going well! Congratulations at the Green team to pull ahead after winning the cheer off last Wednesday evening. However, the race is rather close for everyone! The next challenge is gathering as many school supplies as you can for the Della Lamb organization. Bring them with you at the July 29th meeting for points on each item you bring in!
Another way to help your team: TURN IN CHARACTER SURVEYS!
For those of you who auditioned for chess match, please note that Cliff and Alana have to work with Jim on who they get to pull from our resident cast; so be patient for the list...it's hard, I know! Good luck to everyone!
Finally, Footloose opens this weekend and runs until next weekend so go and support your fellow dancing & singing cast mates in Blue Springs!
That's all I have for now!
Remember: Turn in your character surveys!
WendyWanda aka "Kit" MarloweHello Everyone!
I hope you are well after that busy and exciting July 4th weekend!
Attached are the Canterbury Cup totals up until July 3rd...I am still waiting on a parade list from the promotions department. When I receive it, I will post more points! Congratulations to the purple team for charging ahead during our roster challenge!
Now, even though our calendar says there isn't an apprentice meeting tomorrow, THERE IS! We shall be working on improv and interactions and maybe a game of Yes And....this game is essential for the character to character interactions that we perform at festival! Ron Willard shall be our guest speaker!

AND....just because I am a crazy person: I'm thinking that a team challenge is in order for TOMORROW NIGHT!
Best team or KCRF cheer! If you have the uncanny ability to make a cheer, jot it down and give it to me....put your name on it!
I shall fold the precious pieces of paper and put them in groups by team.
When we are ready for the team challenge, we shall draw from each stack and the paper/person that is drawn will be the represented cheerleader.
Points shall be awarded as 50 for 1st, 40 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 20 for 4th and 10 for 5th.
And I believe that Maestro shall be our judge this time! SURPRISE!
Until tomorrow,
WendyI just wanted to state how my belly hurt from our special challenge on Wedensday evening....everyone did an excellent job!
Thank you to all who stepped forward and did a great job with improv!
Now for assorted matters that we covered during our lecture...sorry for the one room but we were sharing the church and I felt this was easier. I also want to thank all of you for being considerate to our hosts and their guests during this time!

You all are a tremendous source of entertainment for us and we appreciate your hard work!
Be kind to one another because we all have hardships we must muster through everyday and your smile or kind words can uplift a wounded soul that might need it.
WendyWanda aka KitCongratulations to all who strutted their stuff on the "cat-walk" last Wednesday evening! I must say that we are not shy when it comes to having a good time ...and we look fabulous in our new costumes! Great job!
Jim touched on a few things that we really need to pay attention to regarding our host building. It does belong to someone else and they do us a favor by letting us come out of the elements and into the A/C to hold our meetings. We do need to respect their time at the facility as well and not scream or horseplay around. We need to pick up after ourselves, leave things alone that is not ours and keep our trash out of the parking lot. Please be respectful of these people..you all are brilliant actors and actresses, now let's show them that we are brilliant human beings.
Remember to sign up for the Lenexa parade on July 4th with Roger! 913-721-2110!
There might be a promo at Union Station from 2 pm to 4 pm after the parade as well...I'll keep you posted, although it is on the promo calender on the website.
Alice will be talking to our group this Wednesday (7/1) about taking care of your costume for the season and tips to keep it looking (and smelling) good through all of the wear and tear we put them through over promos and festival! Make sure to be there a little before 7:30 pm to be ready to listen. And a big pre-thank you to Alice for doing this PLUS giving us Academy Credit as well!
Character Surveys should be completed and turned in by now to either Rnee or myself. I will be getting with Rnee to see who's survey is coming in after June 30th. I'll give you one more day to get them in and after that...no points, sorry.
Speaking of points: I awarded extra points for the Sisk ladies for making me laugh about their dearly departed husbands in their surveys and to Chris Davis for "dying" during the fashion show! Well done!
Now....for our "Extra Point Grab" for this week! I need the following people to let me know if they are up to up to the challenge of coming up with an entertaining way of reading the roster after Alice's presentation! You will act as a team as you creatively come up with a way to take roll! Ron Willard will be our honorary judge! I will have your list of names for you that evening.
Johnathan Clark & Ron Dolson - Purple
Karen Troeh & Rachel Pearson - Blue
Bindiya Dale & Nichol Weisner - Gold
Conan Christensen & Patrick York - Red
Archer Ives & Nolan Yost - Green
If you cannot accept the challenge, please let me know so that I may substitute you with someone else.
THERE IS AN APPRENTICE MEETING ON JULY 8TH!
Good Luck and I'll see you Wednesday!
~WendyWandaGreetings and I hope that the morning is finding you well!
First of all, let me express how thankful I am that you all are doing so well; this year is more of a challenge with a musical, the economy and then the normal everyday life things on top of that. You are a great set of people and your energy/drive will certainly show in the lanes!
Here's what was discussed at our apprentice class on June 17th:
~We are doing a costume fashion show next apprentince meeting! Your costumes should nearly be complete and this is a great time to check with Alice and Jim on how you are doing and if you are having issues with things regarding your garments. Come prepared to strut your stuff as Alice will provide us some music to make this a fun evening. We will be having a small meeting after the fashion show.
~The owner and executive office has mandated a 20% cut in the entertainment budget. Our festival will look different this year with possible fewer stage acts or new stage acts. Getting more to the point WE are a new set as well so this is a terrific time to shine in the lanes, support the stage acts that we do have, support our vendors and merchants and make our patrons feel welcome.
~The children's realm took a major hit in their budget so if there are any donations as far as materials that you'll be able to help with, speak with Linda Boyce and she'll let you know what it is that she needs.
~If you have any suggestions regarding the budget, you may direct your comments to the owner as our office has their hands tied with this subject. This year we do have to focus on not only doing our job of entertaining our patrons but making it fun and forming our friendships. Family has a way of making through the hard times and this is certainly one of those times.
~Jim did say that there will be a lunch card provided again for our first year apprentices.
~Tabitha needs information from a select few of us, she read a series of names and if you are one of these people....please call her if you didn't get to speak with her at 913-721-2110.
~Jim is looking for a few good souls to be tech support for the musical, Footloose. If you are interested, call him at 913-721-2110
~We focused on Greetings, Leave Takings and Reverences this week. I'm uber proud because so many of you naturally want to interact and were striking up conversations with you partner during the sessions! YES! That's GREAT!
~Roger needs us to sign up for promos and make promos for our patrons. Here are a few that we listed at the table Wednesday evening and I've turned those lists into Roger so I thank you all for signing up:
July 20th: Party with a Purpose: Off of Holmes, between 36th and Gleed near Hyde Park. This community block get together is a fun promo and they ususally feed us as well so bring your mug and a bowl! It is from 4 pm to 7 pm.
June 27th: Providence Hospital Health Faire: 89th & Parallel, 8 am to NOON. We meet and greet, interact and talk to people as they attend the health faire.
June 27th: Union Station: Family Fun Day 11 am -4 pm
July 4th: Lenexa Parade, 8 AM or early because they like to shut down roads but we'll line up at 9 am, bring a snack, mugs and sunscreen since we wait for a couple hours since the parade line is massive! Costumes should be finished at this time.
July 4th: Union Station, 2 pm to 4 pm, I believe we are passing out literature or something to that effect.
That's it in a nutshell! I'm bound to see you all soon in one setting or another!
I am here to help you find answers to your questions.
In the meantime, I've attached the team points for the Canterbury Cup!
Wendy
