A Kansas City Tradition
There are three types of participation in the Renaissance Festival for quality craft artisans:
Shopkeeper – artisans who display, sell and demonstrate approved craft products in an assigned booth space
Street Merchants – artisans who sell an approved product outside of a booth space, usually from a cart. (A Street Merchant may not operate as an adjunct to a Shopkeeper.)
Service Provider – artisans who sell/provide a service or intangible product such as face painting, readings, portraits, hair braiders, massage, etc
All display presentations must be of professional quality, presenting authentic work styles and customs of the historical periods and in sufficient quantity to satisfy possible sales demands. Craft artisans are responsible for their own booth set-up, including signs. The Festival expects participants to mask their individual areas to avoid unsightly views. This is referred to as our “Walls-to-Ground Program”. Decorating with flowers, fabric and banners is part of this program. Display props, signs and costumes appropriate to the time complete the visual image that contributes to the fantasy of stepping back into another time
The Renaissance Festival is a handcrafted, professional exhibition. All items for sale must be juried into the show annually. No imports, manufactured items, commercial kits or trade representatives (i.e., purchased bracelets, gold chains, commercial leather goods, etc.) are permitted.
